Our Teachers
Debbie Belnick
Head Teacher
I began a steady yoga practice about 18 years ago to help with backache. It has since taken me beyond that, but nonetheless still continues to be a remedy for any aches and pains.
I started training and teaching at The Glebe Yoga School in 1998, in 2002 we moved and became Sydney Yoga Space. From 2007 until 2012 I taught at The Yoga Nook in Dulwich Hill and in August 2012 started The Yoga School Bondi Junction.
I have been to the Ramamani Iyengar Yoga Institute in Pune on a number of occasions and continue to go back to Pune to attend classes and study with the Iyengar family.
Practice and teaching has become an integral part of my life and both continue to be a source of inspiration for further learning and commitment to yoga.
Debbie is a member of the Australian Association of Yoga Therapists.
Elia Green
Teacher
Elia’s yoga training began in 1993 with Senior Iyengar teacher Peter Thomson of Glebe Yoga School and later The Sydney Yoga Space in Darlinghurst. At that time Elia was singing and touring America regularly, she was able to take her practise on tour and experience the benefits of a yoga practise on her frenetic touring schedule.
After six years of daily yoga practise, Elia’s focus changed from singing to yoga, and she began her teacher training with Peter Thomson. When her son was born in 2000 she cut back her teaching schedule, and in 2005 moved to the Central Coast. Elia now teaches regular classes at Umina Beach Yoga and at The Yoga School Bondi Junction.
Elia has maintained a regular practise for the past 22 years, and is just as inspired by her practise and teaching now, as she was when she began her yoga journey.
“Your body is the child of the soul. You must nourish and train that child.”
